SuperShero: Eva Mureithi
Eva Mureithi inducted into theLove Superhero Hall of Gratitude in February 2017 for saying yes because it is the right thing to do, even though saying no is in her power and would be easier. Making radical change takes "yes" people. Being a clinic manager is no joke. Ask Eva Mureithi the nurse clinic manager for the busy Ward 86 HIV clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. On any given day, she is balancing a complex set of decisions involving patient safety, government regulations, staff needs, and the simple fact there are a limited number of hours in the day. More than one time, myself or my colleagues have gone to Eva with innovative ideas. Ideas she could easily say no to. Not only does she say yes, she stays late to make sure the good work happens. Truthfully, Eva's tween daughter deserves her own cape. As she has stayed late with mama on more than one occassion so a focus group could be held, so an emergency could be thoughtfully taken care of, so community could be built. Thank you to Eva for saying yes. We have expanded access to HIV treatment services, HIV prevention services and reproductive health for San Franciscans because of your commitment and dedication. All love.
About theLove Superhero Hall of Gratitude
“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David OrrI deeply admire those who "live well in their places." The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation. This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner - offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world. Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
